"a good infographic is worth a thousand words"
I have designed several infographics on a variety of topics. A successful design will help encourage engagement with the subject and hopefully lead to a better understanding of the information.
I have created poster designs for talks, events and corporate display.
I am comfortable working with existing photography or creating an illustration from scratch.
'Picture A Name' was an idea that came about when a friend asked me to create a custom illustration for a newborn gift.
All I was given was the baby's name and as I was 'googling' to find out what the name meant I realised that the entire design could be the name itself (just like the inventive 'google doodles') but include references to its meaning.
I have undertaken several commissions as baby or toddler gifts in addition to steadily building up designs for the top 10 boys and top 10 girls names in the UK.
Whether it's an e-invite or a printed postcard, an event needs striking graphics to stand out, grab the viewers attention and get them to take an interest in the content.
I have produced invite and banner designs for various events (charity dinners, scientific talks, parties, office launches) using photography, illustration or a mix of the two.
Symbol, monogram or logotype, the 'logo' you use is an important part of the brand of your business or product.
It represents a unique design challenge, to create a simple graphic device that has to convey a whole identity!
Having worked with architecture and engineering studios the need to create diagrams to explain complex processes called for the design of many different graphic symbols.
These icons represent tricky but enjoyable mini design challenges.
I've been interested in photography for as long as I can remember. Picking up an old Pentax film camera from my Dad and playing around with the different lenses led to dabbling in a dark room just before digital cameras became a thing!
After studying Architecture at university I focused on capturing the built environment and over time began to pick up commissions from local Architects and Engineers.
My Architectural training has given me an understanding and appreciation of buildings that feeds into my work and enables me to capture successful images.
In an environment where 3D modelling is now ubiquitous, this traditional illustration technique still has a role to play, particularly in construction related industries. The examples shown here were all used at early design stages within bid documents.
'Tea tempers the spirits and harmonizes the mind, dispels lassitude, relieves fatigue and awakens thought'

A great product and a brilliant client, I worked with the creator of Green Boar Tea to develop a series of packaging concepts that led to the final sales version shown here.
